Education changes everything.

In Kenya, a school uniform is required for attendance at public schools. Help House Lewis put 54 Kenyan students in school by providing the required uniform.

TAILORED FOR TOMORROW

A single uniform enables a child to break the cycle of generational poverty.

During the course of fourteen years, we’ve provided uniforms to over thirteen thousand children, enabling them to attend school and pursue futures free from dependency. Many return as journalists, doctors, and teachers, uplifting their communities. We are currently working alongside of the parents, government officials, and Church leaders of Ngamwa (Gām-Wāh), Kenya.

Step One:

We form and meet with a local leadership council made up of parents, teachers, pastors and govenment officials who cast vision for how we can work alongside of them.

Step Two:

We purchase the uniforms from Alice, a parent of one of the students. This small choice of purchasing locally has brought electricity, clean water, and economic growth to our partner communities.

Step Three:

Finally, the guardians of the students contribute 5% of the cost and participate in the uniform ceremony, thus reinforcing dignity and reducing dependence on foreign aid.

Impact

One hundred and two families have been impacted by our work in Ngamwa Primary School.

Assets

The majority of families are farmers, and their main crops are corn, coffee, and arrow root.

Obstacles

It's a semi-arid climate, so it doesn't rain often, and crops tend to fail, affecting income which on a good day is $2 or 250 KES.

Language

The primary languages spoken are Kikuyu, Swahili, and even English at schools.

Our superpower is invisibility.

Every uniform we distribute is given through the guardians of the children who then give them to the children themselves at the uniform ceremony.
